Real Estate Agents Finding Love: Online Dating Site Idea?

Real Estate Agents Finding Love: Online Dating Site Idea?

You don’t have to be lonely…

I find myself singing that little tune all the time. As cheesy as the commercials can be, I understand the thought process behind developing a dating platform geared towards certain lifestyles.

As a former teacher I can attest to the fact that certain careers have unique demands. The demands and lifestyle a profession like that requires your significant other to have an understanding of what your job entails- especially to have a healthy relationship.

Well not that real estate agents are lonely, but it got me to thinking- would a dating site for real estate agents be something that could work? Hypothetically speaking of course. Is it a ridiculous thought? I think not, and here is why:

  1. Unorthodox work schedule– Agents don’t stick to your typical 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule. Whether you are in the office generating leads, meeting a with a prospective client, or showing a home, agents have to be very flexible with their schedule. Other agents understand how this works and how it will affect your relationship.
  2. Meeting Others Needs– to be successful in this business, you have to be available. Not over-available, they can seem a little needy. But, with a client you must be in reach most of the day. Things happen fast in real estate, and being connected is crucial. When another agent is by your side, they know what you have to do.
  3. Same Interests– Having the same interests is important in a relationship. You don’t have to share everything, but having a common foundation is very important.
  4. Great at communicating– agents have to be great at communicating- emphasis on the ‘have to be’ part. Read any relationship book, communication will most likely be the top requirement for a loving relationship. It can only be a plus if you both are great at communicating wants, needs and information effectively.
  5. Great Listeners– on the other hand, agents have to be able to effectively listen. Agents practice listening to their clients to determine the best plan of action to meet their needs. Part of communication is listening- and agents know how to listen.
  6. Support– In a relationship, it is important to emotionally support your partner. What better person to have in your corner than someone who understands what you are experiencing. Trying to connect with someone who just doesn’t understand can be difficult.
  7. Similar Socially– The real estate social scene is a whole different monster. Agents know what I am talking about. There will be plenty to do when two agents are together. Plus, you can be comfortable knowing your partner is comfortable at events and get togethers.

What could be some issues of dating another agent you ask?

  • They know all your sales tricks. So don’t try to manipulate your partner into anything.
  • They might be a better agent than you. Not that you would be a jealous person, but it could cause some friction.
  • Conflict of interest possibilities? Maybe.
  • They never take time off for your relationship.
  • Your whole world could revolve around real estate

A dating site for real estate agents. Million dollar idea? Possibly. But just a wild thought for now.

If you are not an agent and wondering if you should date one. The answer is a resounding yes. Just trust me.
